Calculating the amount of the fine: how do we arrive at €375?
When you use a free-flow toll plaza, you have 72 hours to pay your toll.
- Payment after 72 hours: If you exceed this deadline, you will receive a payment notice with a surcharge. This includes the toll amount plus a penalty of €10 (if you pay within 15 days) or €90 (if you pay after 15 days).
- Payment after 2 months: If you do not pay the increased payment notice within 2 months of its being sent, your case will be forwarded to the police court. At that point, the fixed penalty of €375 (category 4 fine) will be applied, in accordance with Article R419-2 of the French motorway Code.
